A ghastly accident has reportedly occured at Mile 40 on the Buipe–Kintampo highway on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
It happened when a Kia truck loaded with groundnuts collided with an empty trailer.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer, traveling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi, attempted to overtake the Kia truck, causing the crash.
The truck, carrying eight passengers, veered off the road in the process.
A rescue team from the Buipe Fire Station managed to save six people, who are now receiving treatment at the Buipe District Hospital. Sadly, two passengers were confirmed dead at the scene.
Savannah Regional Fire Service PRO, DOII Salisu M. Sirilbaini, confirmed the incident to Citi News on Thursday, August 21.
