The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has handed over 230 water pumps seized from illegal mining sites to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for irrigation purposes.

According to the ministry, the initiative aims not only to combat illegal mining but also to support agriculture.

Speaking during the presentation of the water pumps to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, assured the Agriculture Ministry of working with all stakeholders to address the impact illegal mining is having on crop production.

“We are pleased to present 230 water pumps to the Ministry of Agriculture, which will be distributed to our farmers to help produce much-needed food”, he said.

Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, while receiving the water pumps, assured of distributing them to non-mining farming communities to help boost food production.
