The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested suspect Daniel Cudjoe alias Ato Asare following a violent incident that occurred on September 28, 2025 at Simpa, near the Simpa Sawmill, in the Nsuaem District.

In a statement issued on September 30, 2025, police said it received a distress call on the day of the incident about an armed confrontation between two rival groups. One led by suspect Daniel Cudjoe alias Kwame Ato Asare, and the other group from Dadwen, led by suspects Alhassan and one Abolo, now at large.

The statement further noted that preliminary investigations indicate that suspect Daniel Cudjoe alias Ato Asare, 25, together with his deceased brother Emmanuel Cudjoe, 23, and ten others now at large confronted the Dadwen group after receiving information that the Dadwen group led by suspects, Alhassan and Abolo had destroyed his mining equipment at a mining site.

The confrontation escalated into exchange of gunfire, resulting in the death of Emmanuel Cudjoe.

Police retrieved 2 pump-action guns, 3 machetes, 4 motorbikes, one tri-cycle and one regalia from the scene.

The Police Command assured the general public that investigations are ongoing to arrest all persons involved to face the full rigours of the law.
