President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has described Ghana’s inability to qualify for AFCON as heart-wrenching.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the continental showpiece after failing to win a single game in the qualifying series.
Speaking to Sporty FM in an interview in Accra, the president said that it was the first time the country had crashed out and not qualified in the last twenty years.
However, he believes that the Ghana Black Stars have made up for it by qualifying for the World Cup and believes that they will make Ghana and the continent proud.
“When we crashed out of the AFCON, it was heart-wrenching for all Ghanaians because it was the first time in many decades that Ghana had not gone for the AFCON. Ghana has been a permanent feature in AFCON and so it was quite hurtful but I believe that the boys have made it up with qualifying for the world cup,” he said.
