The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old fisherman identified as Samuel Armah, also known as Kofi Nyan, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl at Mumford, a suburb of Apam.

According to the police statement, the suspect appeared in a viral video circulating on social media regarding the incident.

The arrest followed a report received by the Apam District Police Command at around 1:00 p.m. on October 17, 2025.

Police said the incident occurred on October 16, 2025, when the suspect allegedly lured the young survivor “into a ghetto at Mumford and defiled her.”

Task force officers proceeded to the area and arrested the suspect, while the victim was taken to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for medical examination and care.

The case has since been referred to the Central Regional DOVVSU. Police noted that the accused “admitted to the offence” and is currently detained.

He is expected to appear before the court on October 23, 2025, for prosecution.

The statement assured the public that justice will be pursued.

“The command assures the general public that justice will be served,”it said, appealing especially to residents of Mumford to support investigations.
