Both NLA and KGL are on the same page

Renegotiation to get more money from the NLA-KGL deal has been the position of KGL to Mahama’s government since January 2025. Both NLA and KGL are on the same page. Since 2019, payments made by KGL to NLA keep increasing through renegotiations as the business keeps expanding and without doubt, KGL payments to NLA will continue to increase from 2026 and beyond to more benefit the State and NLA. The most important thing is how NLA will prudently utilize the payments by KGL in the interest of the State and the public. Renegotiation has nothing to do with termination or cancellation or abrogation of the license agreement of KGL. The Director-General of NLA’s position has clearly confirmed that the NLA-KGL deal is the best, and has the potential to benefit the State more, even after renegotiation. Also, Fourth Estate & Sulemana Briamah’s demand for termination, cancellation or abrogation of the NLA-KGL deal has been completely DEFEATED by the position of the Director-General of the NLA at the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament(PAC).
