Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed claims by Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor that the government is spending $1 billion on a presidential jet, calling them “patently false.”
Speaking on JoyNews on November 25, 2025, Kwakye Ofosu clarified that the government’s plan to retool the Ghana Armed Forces will cost about $300 million, covering four helicopters, two aircraft, three vessels, and armored personnel carriers—far below the alleged $1 billion.
He also explained that $14 million remains outstanding from the previous government’s deal with an Israeli company for military equipment, which is included in the current $300 million figure.
The minister emphasized that full details will be presented when the procurement bill is laid before Parliament, urging the public not to be misled by inflated claims.
