Describing the initiative as a strategic national investment, the President underscored that the Centre represents a decisive shift from subsistence farming to a modern, mechanised, and commercially viable agricultural sector.

He noted that agriculture remains the backbone of livelihoods for millions of Ghanaians, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing longstanding challenges, including limited access to mechanisation, inadequate storage, weak extension services, and poor market linkages.

The Farmer Services Centre, a flagship programme of the government, will function as a comprehensive one-stop hub, providing farmers with access to mechanised equipment, inputs, training, soil testing, storage facilities, and reliable market opportunities.

The government plans to establish 50 such centres nationwide, with 11 set to commence this year. President Mahama highlighted the strategic importance of the Afram Plains as a key agricultural growth corridor, citing its vast arable land and strong potential for crop and livestock production.

He underscored that the project will enhance productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, create jobs, and improve incomes for farmers, particularly the youth.

He further stressed the importance of public-private partnerships, commending B5 Plus Group Limited for its collaboration, and reiterated the government’s broader commitment to climate-resilient agriculture, expanded irrigation, rural infrastructure development, and value addition.

Reaffirming the government’s support for farmers, the President assured that policies are being implemented to ease input costs, guarantee fair pricing, and strengthen local food production.

“This is how we transform agriculture through practical, targeted investments,” President Mahama stated, adding that the initiative reflects a clear vision to build a modern, productive, and food-secure Ghana.
