Former Black Stars forward Prince Tagoe has stirred fresh controversy in Ghana’s entertainment space after making a series of claims against dancehall artiste Stonebwoy.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session on April 15, 2026, Tagoe expressed concern over a lyric in Stonebwoy’s song Deeper, particularly the line: “My property no go lock for EOCO.”
According to the former international, he found the statement inappropriate, suggesting it could be interpreted as an indirect jab at fellow artiste Shatta Wale. This follows past reports that Shatta Wale’s vehicle had been seized by authorities over alleged links to proceeds of crime.
Tagoe described the lyric as “below the belt,” emphasizing that public figures should avoid statements that could be perceived as mocking others, especially in sensitive situations.
Beyond the lyric, Tagoe alleged deeper tensions within Stonebwoy’s BHIM Nation camp. He claimed that during his association with the group, he observed what he described as a culture of hostility toward Shatta Wale.
According to him, individuals within the camp were discouraged from openly enjoying Shatta Wale’s music, with fears of being sidelined if they did so.
“From day one, it felt like pure hatred,” Tagoe alleged. “If someone around that brand played Shatta Wale’s song, they risked being cut off.”
Tagoe contrasted this with what he described as Shatta Wale’s more relaxed approach. He recounted a personal experience where the SM boss visited his home while Stonebwoy’s music was playing.
“Shatta Wale came to my house, heard Stonebwoy’s songs, and was even singing along. He didn’t ask me to turn it off,” he said.
The former footballer concluded by urging artistes to embrace unity and mutual respect, stressing that music should remain a source of entertainment rather than division.
