We are fighting poverty, corruption and illegal mining head-on – Gbande

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has described his seven months in government as “hectic but fulfilling,” stressing that the NDC under President John Dramani Mahama is focused on reversing the country’s decline and tackling the core challenges facing ordinary Ghanaians.

“It is not an easy way to reconstruct and redevelop a country, particularly when you had it degenerated the way it has been, and you have the very people who caused the degeneration now claiming to be saints.

“But I have seen a turnaround, I have seen impact, I have seen goodwill, and I have seen commitment to resolving the problems of the ordinary Ghanaian.

“We are fighting poverty together,” he said in an interview on GHOne with Emmanuel Agyabeng on GHOne as monitored by Lovinghananews.com

He emphasized that the Mahama-led administration is taking bold steps against unemployment and corruption.

“I see the NDC team, led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, fighting unemployment, fighting corruption, fighting poverty head-on. For me, that is very fulfilling, and it resonates with the discussions we had with the people before the elections.”

On the opposition’s criticism of government policies, Gbande dismissed them as unconstructive.

“I do not think that we currently have a responsible opposition willing to help write the wrongs.

“Whoever calls for equity must come with clean hands, and they don’t have clean hands. The NDC takes corrections from ordinary Ghanaians who voted us into power, not from the minority, who are not worth the equity to bring them to the table of discussion.”
