Five people have been killed and six others were injured in a violent land dispute at Gbiniyiri, a farming community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region, early Sunday morning.

According to District Chief Executive Sinkina Saaka, the clash began after the community chief sold land to a private developer.

When the developer attempted to start work, some residents resisted. Tensions escalated further when the chief and his son visited the site and were physically attacked.

Three of the injured are in critical condition, while security forces have since been deployed to restore calm.
