If the NDC’s grassroots decide I should lead them, I will lead them—Hon. Eric Opoku

Agric Minister, Eric Opoku, has finally reacted to a Lovinghananews.com report suggesting that he is being considered as the National Democratic Congress’s flagbearer for the 2028 election.

According to him, if the grassroots decide to give him the opportunity, he will wholeheartedly accept the challenge.

He noted that over the years, God has had a way of choosing leaders for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and if that favour falls on him, he will not reject it.

Eric Opoku, who was speaking on Accra-based Accra FM, said, “God has a way of choosing leaders for the NDC over the years, and if that favour falls on me, why not? I will gladly accept it,” he stated.

“Sometimes, when leaders are chosen, some may dislike the decision, but it becomes what everyone must rally behind to win the next election.

“If the party’s grassroots decide I should lead them, I will lead them.”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will have to elect a new leader as flagbearer for the 2028 elections.

Several names have come up strongly since the political party came to power after the 2024 elections.

However, he mentioned that his focus currently is to ensure the government succeeds in making the lives of the Ghanaian people better.
