President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring public accountability and recovering state resources allegedly looted by former officials.
Addressing the nation during his first media encounter on Wednesday, September 10, the President said his administration has not relented in its determination to pursue justice, stressing that due diligence remains central to the process.
“Public accountability and recovery of looted state resources are the top of your expectations from my government. Let me assure you, my fellow citizens, that we have not wavered in our commitment even for a moment. Neither have we been complicit. What you are witnessing is not our inaction but our steadfast adherence to due diligence and fairness to justice,” he said.
He explained that while the government’s insistence on following proper legal procedures may appear slow, it ensures that justice is not compromised.
The President revealed that under the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team (ORAL), significant progress has been made. He disclosed that more than 200 cases are currently under investigation, with about 80 individuals interrogated so far.
Mahama assured Ghanaians that his government is actively pursuing perpetrators on multiple fronts and remains determined to ensure accountability, recover stolen assets, and restore public trust.
“Our insistence on doing things the right way may have afforded those who have looted our resources. But let me be clear, it will not grant them permanent escape. Across multiple fronts, active pursuit and persecution are well underway under ORAL. Over 200 cases are under active investigation with about 80 people interrogated so far,” he stated.
