IMANI Africa’s Franklin Cudjoe has questioned the reasoning behind Asiedu Nketia’s Thank you tour.
He is of the view that instead of embarking on this tour, Asiedu Nketia should use the opportunity to visit illegal mining sites.
This he believes will be a better venture than the decision to embark on a useless venture.
Making this known in a Facebook post he said “Chairman of the NDC party on a ‘thank you tour’? For what? Chairman, instead please tour all the galamsey sites booming with activity and together with the president declare those areas dangerous zones. If you are able to do this, you may be on your way to receive the Chief Successor title. Otherwise, you would just be an uninfluential toothless General”.
The fight against illegal mining has dominated headlines in recent times.
Catholic Bishops Conference have called for a state of emergency to be declared by the government but the president has insisted that it should be the last resort.
The government has announced that military deployments will now be used in the fight against the menace.
