Officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) have arrested 25 suspects and rescued 295 victims in an alleged human trafficking and recruitment scam operating under the guise of QNET in the Ashanti Region.

The operation, carried out at multiple locations in Kenyasi, Kwabre East Municipality, and Buoho, Afigya South District, resulted in the apprehension of 320 individuals believed to be involved in the illicit scheme.

After thorough screening, EOCO officials identified 295 individuals as victims of trafficking who had been deceived with false promises of employment, education, and travel opportunities, while 25 individuals were confirmed as recruiters behind the fraudulent operation.

Head of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at EOCO, Staff Officer Dominic Mensah, said arrangements are underway to provide temporary shelter for the victims as efforts continue to reunite them with their families.

Meanwhile, the Head of Compliance at QNET, Theodocia Naana Bennieh Quartey, expressed concern over the persistent misuse of the company’s name in criminal activities.

She assured that QNET is intensifying collaboration with law enforcement agencies to clamp down on fraudsters exploiting its brand for illegal recruitment and trafficking schemes.
