The Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has commissioned a new 15-bed maternal block and Child Health Clinic at Juapong to ease congestion at the Juapong Health Centre.

The facility, completed within six months through a partnership with the Engage Now Africa Foundation, is expected to significantly improve maternal and child healthcare delivery in the area.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Ablakwa described the project as a major step toward addressing maternal and child health challenges in North Tongu. He also donated all the medical equipment required to make the clinic operational from its inception.

The MP noted that the initiative is part of his commitment to prioritising the health and well-being of his constituents, particularly mothers and children.

At the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Ablakwa announced several other development projects approved for North Tongu, including the construction of the Aveyime-Asutsuare Road, the Juapong-Podoe-Abutia Road, and the Sege-Battor-Mepe Road.

He also revealed plans for the construction of the Volivo–Dorfor Adidome Bridge over the Volta River.

Meanwhile, the Africa Director of Engage Now Africa, Cecilia Amankwah, reiterated the organisation’s mission to heal, rescue, and uplift, stressing the importance of safeguarding mothers and children.

“When a mother is safe, a family is secure. When a child is healthy, a community is strong. And when families thrive, nations prosper,” she stated.

The project, aimed at reducing preventable maternal and child deaths, was made possible through collaboration with key partners.

The newly commissioned facility is expected to serve as a major boost to healthcare delivery in Juapong and surrounding communities.
