AfroTalks Lagos 2025: Reimagining Africa’s Systems Through Dialogue and Innovation

Lagos will host AfroTalks, a platform that brings together thinkers, creators, and change-makers to amplify African stories and interrogate the systems shaping the continent. Under the theme “Matrix,” AfroTalks Lagos will focus on the intricate networks of political, cultural, and economic structures that continue to influence how Africans live, work, and dream.

AfroTalks was founded as a think tank with the aim of positioning African voices at the forefront of global and continental conversations. It is a space where dialogue meets innovation, where heritage meets contemporary ideas, and where Africans take ownership of their narratives. Past editions like AfroTalks Accra have highlighted the intersections of entrepreneurship, culture, and social change, and the Lagos gathering promises to continue in that tradition.

The speakers for this year’s Lagos edition reflect the diversity of expertise required to engage meaningfully with Africa’s present realities. Nigerian filmmaker Peace Hyde will bring the lens of media and storytelling to the stage, while Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye, the legendary artist, offers a reminder of the enduring power of art as both cultural preservation and innovation. Tatiuana Holland, a principal attorney from the United States, will add a legal and policy perspective that connects African systems to wider global frameworks. Sierra Leone’s Mariama Jalloh, a fintech and startup advisor, will speak to the role of technology and finance in reshaping opportunities across the continent. From Ghana, Dr. Ashley Milton, CEO of She Grows It and Diallo Sumbry, CEO of The Adinkra Group in Ghana will echo the essence of Triangle Offence Policy in building the Africa we envision. Creative innovation is also on the agenda with Nigerian animator Somto Ajuluchukwu, while Nigerian architect James Inedu-George, CEO of HTL Africa, will add a design and infrastructure perspective, showing how urban spaces can be reimagined for sustainable futures.

Beyond keynotes and panels, AfroTalks Lagos will feature AfroPitch, a platform where innovators and startups present their ideas to potential partners and investors. This feature reflects the organisation’s belief that dialogue should lead to action, and that Africa’s biggest challenges can only be addressed when ideas are tested and supported in real-world contexts.

Lagos, with its reputation as Africa’s most populous city and one of its most dynamic cultural hubs, provides a fitting backdrop. The city embodies both the complexities and possibilities that AfroTalks seeks to explore. Its energy, creativity, and entrepreneurial drive mirror the broader continental push to challenge inherited systems while creating new ones that align with African aspirations.

While the Lagos edition holds local significance, AfroTalks positions itself as part of a larger Pan-African movement. Its mission to amplify African stories by Africans, ignite the African Dream, and drive sustainable community impact resonates across borders. By drawing voices from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and the diaspora, AfroTalks reflects the interconnectedness of Africa’s challenges and opportunities.

As the continent navigates a rapidly changing global order, AfroTalks Lagos will serve as a reminder that Africans are not only telling their own stories but also actively shaping the systems that define them. Whether through film, law, architecture, entrepreneurship, or cultural diplomacy, the conversations in Lagos will echo a broader commitment to reimagining Africa’s future from within.
