Ellembelle MP and Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has donated two pickup trucks and four motorbikes to the Ellembelle Police Command, the District Assembly, NADMO, Education Directorate, Environmental Health, and the Works Department respectively as well as presented several start-up equipment to artisans to commence their work after training.
Speaking to LovinghanaTV during the presentation at Aiyinase in the Ellembelle District, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, said his priority and that of the district is to resource key institutions responsible for Education, Health and Security in the District.
“What makes our communities work is that the institutions of state that have been mandated to protect us, especially the police, must be given the tools they need to be effective, to be able to work 24 hours a day.
“I clearly understand the role of the police in ensuring the peace and security of every district. And so, when I got the request from the Divisional Commander that the pickup I presented nine years ago is very weak and breaking down, I felt it was so important that we help them in a way to retool them. And interestingly, that’s what government is doing, retooling and strengthening institutions and making sure that they are all able to also serve the community,” he said.
With support from Ghana Gas, the Ellembelle MP also awarded 315 tertiary students with scholarships ranging from GH¢3,000–GH¢5,000.
“Empowering students and supporting them ties in with the President’s vision to strengthen education and support students. I want to highlight that our collaboration with Ghana Gas, which generously donated GH¢1million for the Ellembelle District Scholarship Programme. We are calculating the amounts to ensure fairness and aim to assist as many students as possible.
Over 300 people received GH¢3,000 cedis each, and we will keep working to secure further support from other sources. For us in the Ellembelle District, key areas to invest is in health, education, infrastructure, and institutions that facilitate progress, so I’m happy that we are doing that,” he added.

Together with the Ellembelle District Chief Executive, Joseph Agyekum, the MP also presented GH¢2,500 from the District Assembly Common Fund to support 50 physically challenged persons in the district to engage in economic ventures to support themselves.
“We need to support individuals who are physically disabled and youth with skills. We’re talking a lot about young people trying to get help. All of them cannot work in the civil service. We must create alternative jobs for them, especially skills that they themselves can be independent on, and that’s what we are doing here in Ellembelle. So, I’m very excited about empowering people,” he explained.
The Ellembelle District Chief Executive, Joseph Agyekum, while being grateful to the President and the MP for their intervention, explained to LovinghanaTV the processes of the support.

“We are grateful to the President of the Nation, the Excellency President John Dramani Mahama. I’m also grateful to the Honorable Minister, who happens to be the MP for Ellembelle. Since we are taking care of those in school, we needed to also cater for the physically challenged. So, we told them to write officially to the District to request some of the things when they get, they will be in better position economically and others.
“So, some of them wrote to us requesting for deep freezers and ice chest. We think this is an opportunity to also help the physically challenged. You know when you are traveling, you see some of the physically challenged standing on the roadside begging for money and others. We think this is an opportunity to also support them economically so that they will not also go to the street begging people for money” he noted.
A Civil Engineering student from Takoradi Technical University, Queen Yaaba Kwaw, who is one of the scholarship beneficiaries from spoke to LovinghanaTV.
“The scholarship provided by Honorable Armah Kofi Buah has been a tremendous help to my education. I was struggling to pay my fees, but since Hon. Kofi Buah stepped in, it has been a great opportunity for me. I am deeply grateful for this chance and want to extend my heartfelt thanks,” she applauded.
