Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has brushed off criticisms from unions questioning his handling of the Ridge Hospital incident and his credibility for the role. Speaking on Hot Issues with Keminni Amanor, Mr. Akandoh said his track record speaks for itself. “I always tell people to judge me by what I am doing at the moment. I have been a ranking member of the health committee for about seven years, a member of parliament for four terms, and a deputy minister before. “If this is not competence, I don’t know what competence is,” he argued. The Minister added that while he respects…
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has defended his decision to establish a committee to investigate the Ridge Hospital incident involving Ralph Saint Williams, also known as Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian The Health Minister said the matter had two dimensions—alleged assault and alleged medical delays—and therefore required a broader probe. “There has been an alleged assault, and then there has been an allegation of delay in attending to patients. “The nurses or doctors may also have reasons. I am not, at this point, willing to go into triage or emergency processes—that’s why the committee is sitting,” Mr. Akandoh explained on Hot Issues with…
Social media activist Ralph seems to have resorted to the deities to seek justice in the incident that took place at Ridge Hospital. He is denying assaulting a nurse when he and some other men stormed the emergency unit of the hospital a week ago. In a video shared via social media, the activist is seen with some traditionalists who were slaughtering a goat to some gods to fight for justice on his behalf. Meanwhile Rejoice Tsotso Bortei, a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional (Ridge) Hospital who was assaulted during a violent incident involving relatives of a patient on…
Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the former Nana Akufo-Addo-led administration of fueling the illegal mining menace that continues to plague Ghana’s rivers and forests. Gbande argued that much of the environmental destruction could have been avoided if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had enforced proper reclamation practices. “Do they think Ghanaians did not know that Akufo-Addo incentivized illegal mining? No control. The lands minister didn’t have any plan. When they brought up a scheme called Green Ghana, they said we should go and plant trees. Let them show where they planted…
Police in the Eastern South Region have arrested ten people and seized nine firearms in a series of security operations in Akwatia ahead of the by-election. The weapons — eight pump-action guns and one locally made single-barrel gun — were recovered between August 22 and 23 through snap checks and targeted raids to curb illegal arms possession before the polls. Among the arrests, police near St. Dominic Hospital intercepted Bernard Kumi Ofosu with a pump-action gun and cartridges. Though he presented a licence, the weapon is under verification. At Akwatia Y-Junction, officers picked up Joshua Amenuku with cartridges, later finding…

Once upon a time in Nigeria, banking was a headache. Long queues. Network failures. Frustrated customers. But two men decided to solve this problem. In 2015, Tosin Eniolorunda and his team started a company called TeamApt. At first, they built banking software for Nigerian banks. But then they noticed something — banks were not reaching ordinary people in the streets and small businesses. So they created Moniepoint in 2019. A simple idea: Bring banking services to people through agents with POS machines. Help small businesses accept payments. Make it easier for Nigerians to send, receive, and withdraw money. Today, Moniepoint…
Back in 2006, something crazy happened in the world of soft drinks. A Coca-Cola secretary named Joya Williams, along with two accomplices, stole confidential documents and even a sample of a new Coke product. Their plan was to sell it to Pepsi for big money. But here’s the shocking twist—when Pepsi got the offer, instead of jumping at the chance to crush their biggest rival, they reported it to Coca-Cola and the FBI. The culprits were later arrested and sentenced. Now think about it—Pepsi could have destroyed Coke with that information, but they chose “honor” over profit. Some call it…
Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has described his seven months in government as “hectic but fulfilling,” stressing that the NDC under President John Dramani Mahama is focused on reversing the country’s decline and tackling the core challenges facing ordinary Ghanaians. “It is not an easy way to reconstruct and redevelop a country, particularly when you had it degenerated the way it has been, and you have the very people who caused the degeneration now claiming to be saints. “But I have seen a turnaround, I have…
Foreign Minister and North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has highlighted what he describes as groundbreaking gains from President John Dramani Mahama’s working visit to Japan and participation in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). In a post on Facebook, Ablakwa outlined several key outcomes of the visit, which he said would have a far-reaching impact on Ghana’s infrastructure, agriculture, industrialization, and technological advancement. According to him, one of the most significant breakthroughs is the revival of the long-stalled Volivo to Dorfor Adidome Bridge project across the Volta River, with both Ghana and Japan committing to…
