Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Kwadwo Baffoe Bonnie, has revealed the reason behind the 70-year prison sentence he handed to notorious armed robber Ataa Ayi years ago. According to him, the decision was influenced by concerns for personal safety and public protection. “If I had given him 30 years, I’d probably be the first person he’d come after when he got out,” he said. The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for stronger measures to end illegal mining, warning that the galamsey menace is destroying the nation. The Ghana Police Service has declared Mark Agingre, a native of Binduri, wanted for a string of gruesome murders in the Binduri District and nearby communities in the Upper East Region. Agingre is accused of murdering a man, his wife, and their three children on November 7, 2025, leaving one child critically injured and receiving treatment at the Bolgatanga Government Hospital.
