The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Evans Ameyaw, for possessing stolen items and substances suspected to be narcotic drugs at Buoko, near Chiraa, in the Wenchi Municipality.
The arrest followed credible intelligence received by the Police regarding a criminal network involved in the sale of stolen motorcycles and tricycles within the area. Acting swiftly on the information, a team from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) conducted an intelligence-led operation on October 23, 2025, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
“During interrogation, Ameyaw confessed to working with other accomplices in carrying out the criminal activities. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered four motorbikes, two tricycles, and seven compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp,” Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer Bono Regional Police Command disclosed.
The recovered items have been retained as evidence while investigations continue to track down other members of the syndicate. Police say efforts are also underway to identify and return the stolen properties to their rightful owners.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah disclosed that,”The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations as the Command prepares the case for prosecution.”
