A young activist, Yasir Mohammed, is reportedly nursing severe injuries after allegedly being attacked with a cutlass by the bodyguard of the Deputy Minister for Tourism and MP for Ayawaso North, Yussif Jajah, following the activist’s public criticism of the MP’s performance and allegedly calling him “stupid”.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred three weeks ago after the said activist, Yasir, took to social media and community platforms to draw attention to the deplorable condition of roads along the Nima Highway, which he described as a reflection of neglect in the constituency by the MP.

According to some members of the community on social media, the media and police have failed to report on the incident.

Again, Police in the area, under the leadership of one ACP Reginald Solomon Osei, have reportedly turned the matter “foolish case” and rather arrested the victim.

Sources close to Yasir allege that the MP’s personal bodyguards confronted him violently after he referred to the MP in unflattering terms during his criticism.

In gory images that have since gone viral on social media, the bodyguard of the Deputy Tourism Minister allegedly used a cutlass to slash the face of the activist leaving a deep wound that has since been stitched.

Despite the severity of the attack, no arrests have been made, and the police have reportedly not launched any formal investigation into the matter.

Residents and civic groups within Ayawaso North have expressed outrage over what they describe as a dangerous attempt to silence dissent and activism within the community.

In a statement issued by supporters of the victim, they called for swift justice and protection for citizens who speak out on governance issues.

As of now, the MP has not publicly commented on the alleged attack, though community members continue to demand accountability and an official response from both the legislator and law enforcement authorities on social media.
