The Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH) has been shut down indefinitely following a student riot that left parts of the campus damaged by fire.
The unrest, which erupted late on Thursday, August 14, and spilled into the early hours of Friday, August 15, destroyed the school’s library and the senior housemaster’s office.
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the disturbances, as both police and school management remain tight-lipped.
Education officials ordered the closure to protect students, staff, and property while investigations proceed. Although the extent of the damage is still being assessed, no injuries have been reported.
