Dr Bryan Acheampong
The Bryan Acheampong campaign team has reacted to claims by some constituency organisers of the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region that Dr. Bryan Acheampong is to be blamed for Election 2024 defeat.
In a statement released on October 28, and signed by 62 constituency and polling station organisers of the opposition party, they cited an attempt by the Abetifi lawmaker to acquire the SSNIT Hotels which received a massive public backlash manifested in voters’ decision during last year’s polls.
“The attempted acquisition of majority shares in SSNIT hotels by Dr Bryan Acheampong while serving as a Minister of State constituted a serious breach of public trust and a major contributing factor to our defeat” Part of the statement read.
The organisers claim that the act alone caused the then ruling party as contributors to SSNIT not only voted against the NPP but also embarked on a campaign to ensure the NPP lost the election.
Reacting to these allegations, Bryan Acheampong’s campaign team described the claim as “false”.
In a statement issued by the Communications Directorate of Bryan Acheampong’s campaign team, the team said they “will not will not dignify these provocations with a response.”
The statement explained that the decision not to respond to the claim is out of respect for the party’s shared commitment to unity, “the values of Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s campaign and following the meeting with former President Akufo-Addo.”
“We urge all our supporters nationwide to do the same — do not engage, do not respond, and do not return insults,” the statement added.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s campaign team explained that they remain focus on engaging delegates with respect, advancing ideas that strengthen the NPP, and preparing the party for “decisive victory in 2028”.
“We thank Asanteman for their massive support over the last few days and all supporters across the country for their continued confidence and overwhelming support for Dr. Bryan Acheampong,” the statement concluded.
