CAF rejects Baba Yara Sports Stadium for Asante Kotoko, Wydad clash

The Confederation of African Football has rejected the Baba Yara Sports stadium for Kotoko’s confederation cup for against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.

Asante Kotoko was raising against time to get the Baba Yara Sports stadium ready for the first leg of the continental showpiece.

However, a statement from the Kumasi-based club indicated that CAF has rejected the stadium and therefore their confederations Cup match will be played at the Accra Sports stadium.

The match is scheduled for October 19, 2025.

The statement read “Management regrettably announces that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declined the approval of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host Asante Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup clash against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.
As a result, the club will now play its crucial first leg tie at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm”.
