At the opening of the highly anticipated 2026 Kwahu Business Forum held at the newly established Convention Centre at Mpreaso Hills in the Eastern Region on Friday 3rd April, 2026, Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, called for a bold shift in the country’s economic strategy, emphasizing that manufacturing must sit at the heart of Ghana’s future growth.
In his opening address, Hon. Debrah stressed the importance of boosting local production to ensure sustainable economic development. He urged the country to focus on producing more of what it consumes, processing more of its agricultural output, adding value to its mining resources, and building strong local industries capable of competing both domestically and internationally.
“We must produce more of what we consume, process more of what we grow, add more value to mining, and build local industries to compete both in Ghana and abroad,” Debrah asserted.
The 2026 Kwahu Business Forum brings together policymakers, business leaders, and industry experts to discuss key strategies for advancing Ghana’s economy. The forum is expected to be graced by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic.
