Bail has been granted to Priscilla Duah Birago, a 29-year-old National Service Person, and Charity Dede Tetteh, a 29-year-old beautician, who are standing trial for allegedly making abusive statements against President John Dramani Mahama after the August 6 helicopter crash.
The Adenta Circuit Court admitted each to bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, one justified with property.
Both pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
Prosecutors say the accused hosted a TikTok live where they remarked, “We would have been happier if the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, was involved in the helicopter crash and dwarfs had eaten him up.
A lot of people are dying under his tenure of office.” Birago later shared the comments on her TikTok page, “Abena Birago.”
Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo said investigators are seeking High Court approval to access their phones but did not oppose bail.
Presiding Judge Angela Attache cautioned the accused to stay out of trouble, stressing the matter’s sensitivity.
Three lawyers, led by Enoch Anhwere Afoakwa, represented the defendants.
The case resumes on November 5, 2025.
