Presidential candidate and Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) leader, Kofi Akpaloo, has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Citi News has learnt.
Family sources told Citi News that Mr Akpaloo was picked up from his residence in Kumasi, though the reason for his arrest remains unknown. They added that his current whereabouts are also unclear.
EOCO hasn’t yet released any official statement on the arrest.
Mr Akpaloo, who stood in the 2024 general elections, has long been a notable voice in Ghanaian politics. Despite leading a relatively small party, his campaigns — particularly those aimed at young voters — have helped carve out a space for the LPG in national discourse.
