US prosecutors have indicted Ghanaian social media entrepreneur Frederick Kumi, also known as Emmanuel Kojo Baah Obeng and popularly called Abu Trica, for allegedly helping defraud elderly Americans of more than $8 million.
Unsealed documents from the Northern District of Ohio accuse him of joining a romance-scam network that, since 2023, used AI-generated identities to deceive seniors on social media and dating platforms.
In photos that has since gone viral, the alleged criminal was arrested on December 11, 2025 in the company of some persons who are close associates.
