Franklin Cudjoe, Founding President of IMANI Africa, has taken a swipe at the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) for sidelining the sitting President of Ghana in its upcoming Annual Bar Conference.
In a post shared on social media, Cudjoe claimed that from 2017 to 2024, it had become a tradition for the President of Ghana to serve as the Special Guest at the Bar Conference. However, this year marks a significant shift.
“From 2017 to 2024, the Special Guest for the Annual Bar Conference I’m reliably informed has been the President of Ghana.
“This year the Ghana Bar Association has dented the current president its courtesy to invite him,” he wrote.
According to him, the GBA has instead extended the invitation to the President of the Bar Council for England and Wales, a move he found both surprising and ironic.
“Instead they have chosen to invite the president of the UK Bar Council. I think they should invite the President of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association to complete the coup,” Cudjoe added, with a touch of sarcasm.
This year’s conference will feature addresses from the Chief Justice, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, as well as the National President of the GBA, alongside international guest speakers.
