The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced that it is accepting applications for the promotion of qualified teaching staff and officers to higher ranks within the service.

This was communicated through a public notice issued by the GES.

The notice invites applications from “suitably qualified serving teachers/officers for consideration for promotion” to the following ranks:

.Deputy Director
.Assistant Director I
.Assistant Director II
.Principal Superintendent
The statement outlines specific qualification requirements for each rank. To be considered for a promotion, applicants must have been continuously at their current post since a specific date, with allowances made for periods of approved leave of absence

For the rank of Deputy Director, an applicant must have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director I in or before 2020.

To qualify for Assistant Director I, an applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director II in or before 2020. For Assistant Director II, the applicant must have been promoted to the rank of Principal Superintendent in or before 2020.

Finally, for the rank of Principal Superintendent, an applicant should have been promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent I in or before 2020.

The notice also states that any applicant who has obtained an approved undergraduate degree will be automatically placed on this rank

In addition, the notice provides specific information for “Officers/Teachers with Master’s/Ph.D. Degrees.”

For those who intend to use their Master’s or Doctorate degrees to join the interviews out of turn, the GES notes that the Master’s/Ph.D. programme must be on the approved GES course of study.

The application window is now open, and teachers and officers who meet the qualifications are encouraged to submit their applications for consideration. The application window opens on Monday, August 18, 2025, and closes on Friday, September 5, 2025.

GES advised applicants to submit their forms online through https://bit.ly/gespromotions2025 or by scanning the official QR code provided.
