Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the government has allocated GH¢150 million to support the Ghana National Football team, the Black Stars, in their preparations and participation in the World Cup.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr. Forson said the funding forms part of the government’s broader commitment to promoting sports development and national pride.

“An amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated for the Black Stars to participate in the World Cup,” he announced.

He added that the allocation will cover logistical arrangements, training camps, and other operational costs associated with the team’s participation in the global tournament.

This move comes as Ghana rejoices over the Black Stars’ qualification for the upcoming World Cup, signalling strong government support for sports as a tool for unity and national identity.
