Ghana Armed Forces extends recruitment deadline to Nov 7

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced a one-week extension for its nationwide recruitment exercise, granting prospective applicants a final opportunity to complete their submissions following initial technical disruptions.

The deadline, originally set for October 31, 2025, has been officially moved to November 7, 2025.

The crucial decision was formalized in a press release dated October 31, 2025, issued from the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp.

The statement confirmed the extension was necessary due to “technical challenges encountered on the recruitment portal” during the application’s initial phase, ensuring all qualified Ghanaian citizens get a fair chance to enlist in the Army, Navy, or Air Force.

Colonel Evelyn Ntiamoah Asamoah, Acting Director General of Public Relations, signed the official release, stating, “The Ghana Armed Forces has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment exercise by one week due to some technical challenges encountered on the recruitment portal during the initial period.”

The military hierarchy promptly apologized for the unexpected disruption and appealed for public patience as the process is finalized.

Fraud Warning

The current recruitment drive, which commenced on October 1, is part of a broader government strategy to boost the nation’s defence capacity by enlisting an estimated 12,000 new personnel over the next three years.

Applicants must purchase an electronic recruitment voucher for GH¢200 from selected Ghana Post offices and apply exclusively on the official portal at apply.mil.gh. Key eligibility criteria require applicants to be Ghanaian citizens by birth, of good character, and aged between 18 and 25 years (up to 27 for tradesmen). Verification centers are operational across all 16 regional capitals.

Amid the application process, the GAF issued a stern cyber-fraud warning. Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Brogya Genfi, reiterated the government’s firm stance that recruitment into the GAF is “not for sale” and is based strictly on merit.

This caution follows the Cyber Security Authority’s identification of 86 fake social media accounts impersonating the GAF in a single week. The military urged the public to ignore fraudulent links on platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook, stressing that official information is only published in the state-owned Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times newspapers.
