Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has disclosed that the government is implementing urgent humanitarian interventions to support families displaced by the recent conflict in the Sawla-Bole area.
The Minister for the Interior stated that the government has tasked the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) with compiling accurate data on the number of affected persons.
“We have tasked NADMO to get us the numbers in every area. Some have been displaced internally, others have crossed our borders, and some are even in other regions.
“So, we are trying to get the exact number, after which we will see exactly what can be done,” he said while addressing journalists after a meeting with the Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the Minister
Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak assured that relief efforts are already underway to assist the victims.
“I can assure you that, in the meantime, a lot has been done; food items are coming, we are getting tents and all that,” he added.
The government says further interventions will be determined once NADMO completes its assessment of the full scale of displacement.
