Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that government is working to open seven additional Passport Application Centres (PACs) across Ghana by the end of this year.
The new centres will serve the six newly created regions and Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
“I am glad to note that the Bolga PAC will be fully operational next month,” Mr. Ablakwa said at the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Monday September 15, adding that preparations for the remaining centres are on track.
The initiative is part of efforts to expand access to passport services and reduce travel burden on applicants in underserved areas. The Ministry has also received and is evaluating tenders for a new Passport Head Office Annex building to support growing administrative needs.
Currently, Ghana has 13 PACs spread across nine regions:
* Greater Accra – 3
* Ashanti – 2
* Northern – 2
* Upper West – 1
* Eastern – 1
* Central – 1
* Volta – 1
* Western – 1
* Bono – 1
Mr. Ablakwa reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to decentralising passport services and improving efficiency across the country.
