Gyankroma Akufo-Addo dismisses $25m interchange painting claims, vows legal Action

Former Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency’s Gyankroma Akufo-Addo has strongly denied allegations that she received $25 million to undertake painting works on interchanges in Accra, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Friday, March 27, the daughter of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo dismissed the assertions as baseless, insisting that no such contract has ever been discussed or awarded to her.

“Let me state, again, unequivocally and for the record: this claim is completely false. No such contract has ever existed, been offered, or been awarded,” she said.

She challenged those behind the allegations to provide proof, maintaining that there is no evidence to support the claims.

“If any individual, media platform, or commentator is in possession of such a contract, I challenge them to produce it publicly. They will not, because it does not exist,” she added.

Gyankroma Akufo-Addo explained that her involvement in public art initiatives, including the Art for All project, has been independently driven and funded. She noted that the projects were executed through the Creative Arts Agency, with support from private sector partners and her own contributions.

She further accused some individuals and platforms of deliberately resurfacing the allegations to misinform the public and harm her reputation.

“The deliberate revival and spread of this fabrication, particularly across social media platforms, is a calculated attempt to mislead the public and damage my reputation,” she stated.

She revealed that she has instructed her lawyers to take immediate legal action against persons and media outlets responsible for circulating the claims.

“I will not allow deliberate misinformation to go unchallenged,” she stressed.
