Constitutional lawyer and former Member of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, expressing deep admiration for his dedication and potential.

Fuseini reflected on the sudden loss and its impact on him personally and politically.

“I have no doubt that if Murtala was alive, he would’ve done a lot of things for his constituency,” Fuseini said solemnly.

“He had a lot of life, he had a lot of opportunities ahead of him. But God’s creation takes its course,” Speaking on GBC’s current agenda,

Describing his state of mind since the passing of the former legislator, Fuseini admitted that the tragedy has left him vulnerable but comforted by faith.

“My mind is vulnerable a lot, but since God has taken him, the steps in the preparations are good. I am at peace personally,” he shared.

It would be recalled that the final Islamic funeral rites for former Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, were held on August 12 in Tamale, drawing hundreds of mourners from across the country.

From early morning, the family home in Changli and the surrounding streets were filled with relatives, political allies, friends and residents, all gathered to honour the late MP for Tamale Central.

Qur’anic recitations and solemn prayers, led by Islamic clerics, set the tone for a day steeped in both grief and deep respect for his legacy.

Political leaders, traditional rulers and citizens stood side by side, setting aside differences to remember a man many described as a unifier and a dedicated public servant.

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah called him “a fantastic all-round intellectual in both letters and religion,” urging party members to avoid rushing to choose his successor so as not to dishonour his memory.
