Helicopter crash: Children support fund hits over GH¢10m and $20,000

The Children’s Support Fund set up for the welfare of the children of the victims of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash has received contributions totaling GHS 10,150,495.00 and US$20,000.00.

The donations, collected between October 17, 2025, and February 7, 2026, reflect broad public and institutional support following the tragedy that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including government officials and a pilot team.

In a statement issued on Saturday February 28, government disclosed that Major contributors to the Fund include Ghana Reinsurance, the Ministry of Tourism, Vitol Ghana Services Limited, Kosmos Energy Ghana, the Ministry of the Interior, and staff from the Office of the President, alongside various individuals and professional groups.Ghana travel guide

The August 6 crash occurred while the victims were en route to a mining event in the Ashanti Region. All eight passengers perished in the accident, including Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, and Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy

National Security Coordinator.

Others included Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice-Chair, and Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate.

Donations to the Children’s Support Fund continue to be accepted via Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, with accounts available in both Ghana Cedis and US Dollars. Cheques and bank drafts can be made payable to CHILDREN

SUPPORT FUND 6825, and mobile money payments are also accepted through designated platforms.
The Fund seeks to provide financial support and long-term welfare for the children left behind, ensuring that the legacy of the victims continues through care and education for their families.
