A video currently making rounds on social media has captured a tense moment during the arrest and interrogation of Ghanaian socialite Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica.
In the footage, Abu Trica appears visibly uncomfortable as interrogators question him inside his residence, where he was arrested alongside another individual.
3The interrogation was led by Alexander Twum-Barimah, who identified himself as the Deputy Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NCC).
Mr. Twum-Barimah made it clear that his interest was simple and direct: he wanted to know what Abu Trica does for a living.
“What work do you do?” he asked.
Rather than give a clear response, Abu Trica appeared evasive, insisting that he had not engaged in any form of transactional or online fraud, seemingly assuming that this was the reason for his arrest.
The interrogator, however, clarified that he was not asking about alleged crimes but about Abu Trica’s occupation.
“I’ve told you my position and the work I do,” Twum-Barimah said firmly. “I’m simply asking you to tell me the work you do.”
Despite repeated prompts, Abu Trica failed to provide a straightforward answer and eventually deferred the question to his lawyer, declining to speak further on the matter himself.
Abu Trica has since been indicted on allegations that he played a key role in a large-scale romance fraud operation, reportedly defrauding elderly Americans of more than $8 million since 2023.
According to investigators, he allegedly used AI-generated identities to build fake online relationships, gain victims’ trust, and solicit money under pretenses such as emergencies, travel plans, or investment opportunities.
He is expected to be extradited to the United States, where he will face trial over the allegations.
