I used to campaign for NDC on ‘Kufuor buses’ – Hanna Bisiw

Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund, Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei, has shared an unusual chapter of her political journey, revealing how she once “sold” the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to passengers on Metro Mass Transit buses during President John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration.

Speaking on the Upside Down Show on Channel One TV on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Dr. Bisiw-Kotei said she deliberately parked her car and joined the buses—popularly known as “Kufuor buses”—to campaign for the NDC at a time when the political atmosphere was tense.

“I park my car and take the Kufuor bus, Metro Mass, from Community One to Accra. I will sit in, you see the medicine man will come and sell the medicine, but they had written no preaching, no selling. After he finishes, the preachers stop coming. They always give money to the conductors when they finish, and they will start selling the medicine. I will not talk. When they finish and they are taking their money, then it is my turn to also sell NDC. I mentioned my name and the doctor so that you know I am not here to beg, and I will tell them I am an NDC and I am here to sell NDC,” she recounted.

Dr. Bisiw-Kotei explained that the experience gave her the opportunity to interact directly with ordinary Ghanaians and defend the values of her party in spaces where political debate was often hostile.
