Ibrahim Mahama has yet again made headlines with his recent philanthropic act for a four-year-old boy who suffers from a medical condition called scoliosis.
The young child, identified as Kay, found favour with the business mogul for the treatment of his condition. Scoliosis is a condition where the spine develops an abnormal sideways curve.
The pain Kay had felt for the four years on Earth almost tarnished his hope of becoming a medical doctor himself due to financial constraints from his young parents.
Aid has finally arrived a year after a Ghanaian media outlet featured his story.
Ibrahim Mahama decided to step in and pledged to cover all of the four-year-old’s medical bills and expenses. He also pledged to cover an initial GH₵120,000 that is required for the first of multiple neurosurgical operations the child needs.
Rafik Mahama, the special aide to the philanthropist, confirmed this with a visit to FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, which included settling the initial bills.
According to the businessman’s aide, Kay’s entire treatment journey would be covered by Ibrahim Mahama and his foundation.
Rafik said: “So the initial bill they gave us was GH₵120,000. That was in 2023. And they were unable to raise money for the treatment [for] scoliosis. And so, today we decided to, on behalf of Mr Ibrahim Mahama, we decided to come to see our boy, to make sure that we settle the bill so that the treatment can start.”
“We’ve taken charge of the whole treatment process. And this is not the only… This is the first stage. And subsequently, in about the next four years, there will be a second surgery as well. So for the first one, we decided to take charge of everything, and for the subsequent one, we’ll make sure that, by God’s grace, our little boy will have the best of life to live.”
