– John Mahama Promises Jobs for Youth in Fight Against Illegal Mining
President John Mahama has announced plans to recruit more young people into the Forest Replanting and Blue River Guard programs to help protect Ghana’s forests and water bodies from destruction.
He revealed that the Finance Minister has been directed to increase budget allocations to support this initiative, ensuring more employment opportunities for youth in areas affected by illegal mining.
“These young people will be drawn from communities hit hardest by galamsey and will receive a monthly stipend of GH₵1,500,” President Mahama stated.
