Kenneth Kwabena Agyei Kuranchie, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, has filed a writ at the Supreme Court challenging the legality of government’s anti-corruption initiative code-named Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
Ken Kuranchie filed the writ on September 24, 2025. He is asking the court to rule that the creation and activities of ORAL are unconstitutional. His case is based on Article 2(1)(b) of the 1992 Constitution and the rules of the Supreme Court.
He argues that ORAL has no legal authority to carry out investigations, issue reports, or prosecute current and former government officials. He says all actions taken by the group should be considered unlawful.
Kuranchie is asking the court to:
* Declare all findings, reports, and investigations by ORAL as unconstitutional and invalid
* Cancel all prosecutions linked to ORAL’s work
* Order the Attorney General to stop all actions related to ORAL until the court gives a final ruling
* Direct an audit of all public funds spent on ORAL
* Surcharge the individuals behind ORAL for any public money found to have been wrongly spent
The Attorney General, who is listed as the defendant in the case, is expected to respond within 14 days after receiving the writ.
The case is expected to test the legal basis of the government’s current anti-corruption efforts and could have wide-reaching implications.
