KSM blasts Ghana’s leaders for seeking IMF loans amid $20 billion corruption losses

Media icon Kwaku Sintim Misa has called out what he describes as the hypocrisy of Ghana’s economic management, accusing the government of “begging abroad while bleeding at home.”

He questioned how Ghana could appeal to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a $2 billion bailout when corruption-related recoveries within the country could yield ten times that amount.

“It’s unbelievable,” KSM said. “We’re asking IMF for $2 billion with strict conditions, while over $20 billion sits locked up in corruption cases that no one seems interested in pursuing.”

He explained that the Office of the Recovery of Assets (ORA) has processed over 2,000 corruption complaints, yet only a fraction have been forwarded to the Attorney General’s office.

“We have the data. We have the reports. What we don’t have is leadership,” he remarked on the KSM show monitored by Lovinghananews.com.

KSM lamented that Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions are more concerned with press releases and bureaucratic disputes than results.

He described the situation as “a betrayal of public trust,” calling on authorities to prioritize asset recovery instead of relying on external financial support.

“If we recovered just half of the money lost to corruption, Ghana wouldn’t need to borrow,” he said. “That’s the real economic reform we need.”
