The Kukurantumi Police Station in the Eastern Region has been temporarily shuttered by the Ghana Police Service due to an attack by irate youngsters that forced personnel to evacuate.
Following violent circumstances in Kukurantumi on Sunday, September 21, 2025, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) ordered the immediate closure and departure of personnel, according to a statement signed by Supt George Peprah Mills of the Eastern Regional Police Command.
Part of the statement reads;
“Some youth in Kukurantumi attacked the Kukurantumi Police Station and the barracks with stones, clubs and other implements and attempted to set the building on fire,”
“A police reinforcement team , which was called in, managed to restore calm, law and order,
“The Police Professional Standards Bureau and the Criminal Investigations Department have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of the suspect,
“The perpetrators will be identified, arrested and brought to justice,”
