Director of Legal Affairs of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has cautioned against the hasty condemnation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi North, Hon Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, accused of leading thugs to attack soldiers of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) last Saturday in the Ahafo Region.
Mr Tameklo, who is also the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority(NPA) noted that it is only fair that people hear the side of the MP before hanging him.
Hon Ebenezer Kwaku Addo is alleged to have said that he was instructed by his colleague MP for Asutifi South to disrupt and attack the soldiers. This reportage has received widespread outrage, with many Ghanaians calling for his arrest. But Mr Tameklo has asked that we tread cautiously, given that the report could be misreading.
“It is only fair that we hear the side of the first-time MP before we hang him.
Decency requires that. He must be given the opportunity to be heard relative to what happened. I have seen on Facebook, very respected people delete their posts because of misleading reporting,” he argued.
Meanwhile, several other NDC members have condemned the actions of the MP.
