Ghana will come to a solemn halt today as the nation bids farewell to eight distinguished patriots who lost their lives in last Wednesday’s [August 6] helicopter crash at Adansi in the Ashanti Region.

The state funeral, scheduled for 7:30 a.m. at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, will unite government leaders, bereaved families, and citizens from across the country in a moment of national mourning.

Among those being honoured are Hon. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC; Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of NADMO; Sqn. Ldr. Peter Baafemi Anala, F/O Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, August 10, the Muslim victims—Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology and MP for Tamale Central, and Hon. Mohammed-Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

Paying tribute to their courage and dedication, a national statement described all eight as “gallant sons of Ghana” whose service will remain a guiding light for future generations. Though their voices are now silent, their legacy of loyalty, humility, and selfless service will endure.
