President John Dramani Mahama has declared that Africa must shift from rhetoric to concrete action, urging leaders and global partners to commit to a new development architecture that aligns finance, health, trade, and technology for the continent’s future.

Speaking at the high-level “Addis Reckoning” side event, President Mahama described the engagement as a decisive step in “moving the Accra Reset from vision to action,” emphasizing the need to transition from dialogue to delivery.

The President noted that alongside fellow African leaders and international partners, efforts are underway to build a coordinated framework that unifies critical sectors into what he termed “a single direction of travel” for Africa’s transformation.

According to him, this integrated approach will enhance Africa’s bargaining strength on the global stage while repositioning the continent as a strategic player in global economic and technological advancement.

He stressed that health must be recognised not merely as a social service but as the foundation of prosperity, arguing that resilient health systems are central to sustainable growth and human capital development.

President Mahama also highlighted the importance of mobilising Africa’s intelligence around its critical mineral resources to ensure the continent maximises value from its natural endowments.

In addition, he underscored the need to ensure that African talent receives global recognition, calling for stronger investments in innovation, education, and skills development to harness the continent’s youthful population.

“The time for reflection has passed,” President Mahama declared. “Now, we commit to action.”

He concluded by stating that Africa has reached a turning point that can no longer be ignored, urging leaders across the continent to seize the moment with bold, coordinated, and strategic interventions to secure a prosperous future for generations to come.
