President John Dramani Mahama has urged contractors working on the Ofankor-Nsawam Road project to ensure that traffic continues to flow smoothly throughout the construction period.
Speaking during a working visit to the project site on Wednesday September 3, Mr. Mahama, who was accompanied by the Minister of Roads, noted the improvement in traffic conditions and expressed hope that this would be sustained until the project’s completion.
“I can see that drivers are happy now and I hope that from now till when you finish the project you will maintain a smooth flow of traffic even as you are working so that you don’t impede the flow of traffic,” the former President said.
He also reminded the contractors of their commitment to complete the project by the second quarter of 2026.
“So we will hold you to your word. You say by end of second quarter next year you should be finished,” he added.
The Ofankor-Nsawam stretch is a critical part of the Accra-Kumasi highway and has long been plagued by congestion and poor road conditions. The ongoing road project is expected to ease travel for thousands of commuters once completed.
Mr. Mahama’s visit forms part of a broader monitoring effort to ensure that key infrastructure projects are delivered on time and with minimal disruption to the public.
