A young man believed to be in his late 20s is currently in the custody of the law enforcement agency after he was caught stealing a bowl of waakye, a container of shito, and a stew.
Although the precise location where the incident took place is not readily known, videos circulating on social media show that the waakye thief was arrested by residents of the area, believed to be Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, where the theft took place.
He is seen carrying the container that contains the waakye, the stew, and the shito he had stolen while residents subjected him to some beatings, paraded him on the principal streets and subjected him to some slaps landing on his face. Those who arrested him are heard speaking Twi and making a mockery of him for engaging in the act.
The waakye thief was taken to the police station by the residents in the company of the waakye seller, who has since lodged an official complaint
